We wanted to let our readers know of a terrific online poetry and poetics resource made available by the University of Chicago: the Poem Present media archive. Since 2001, the Poem Present Reading and Lecture series has been bringing distinguished contemporary poets to The University of Chicago to read from their work as well as to speak on topics in contemporary poetry of interest to them.
In 2003-2004, the Chicago Media Initiatives Group (CMIG) began capturing each season of Poem Present in both digital video and audio formats for archiving in the University Library as well as for online publication. The “Poem Present” Archive provides streaming video and audio of nearly all readings and lectures in the Poem Present series.
We thought many of you would enjoy seeing, and listening to, the wonderful readings and lectures archived at the Poem Present website. Poets who have read in the series include: Allen Grossman, Susan Stewart, Michael Fried, Charles Bernstein, Lyn Hejinian, and many others.
